Royal Tudor Picnic
Sudeley Castle has played an important role in the turbulent and changing times of England’s past, with royal connections that stretch back over 1000 years. Today it is a much loved family home and popular visitor attraction.
Inside, the castle contains many fascinating treasures from ancient Roman times to the present day. Outside, the castle is surrounded by award-winning gardens and a breathtaking 1,200 acre estate – all in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Sudeley Castle & Gardens is also the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds – Katherine Parr, the last of Henry VIII’s six wives. Today visitors can explore the beautiful 15th Century church where she lies entombed.
Join King Henry VIII and Queen Anne (courtesy of Tudor Dreams Historical Costumiers) for an afternoon of revelry and a Father’s Day with a difference at our Tudor Picnic on Mulberry Lawn.
Meet the King and Queen in all their finery as they would have been during their progress to Sudeley Castle in 1535. Enjoy music of the period from Waytes and Measures, dancing by Gloriana Living History, a Falconry display and be entertained by the King as he dines alongside Anne Boleyn.
The Royal couple will also be handing out prizes to the best dressed man, woman, girl and boy so if you’ve ever fancied yourself as a Tudor Lord or Lady, this is your chance to shine!
There will be a hog roast on the go as well – of course! Come and join us for what promises to be a fabulous and unique event.
