Elizabethan Weekend

Buckland Abbey was established as a Cistercian monastery in 1278. After the Dissolution, Sir Richard Grenville converted the Abbey into into a house. Later Sir Francis Drake took ownerhsip of the estate and more changes were made to the building across the years, until the National Trust took over in the 20th century.
