Tretower Court and Castle/Llys a Chastell Tretwr
Tretower is a little-known gem on the south-eastern border of the glorious Brecon Beacons. Once the home of the Vaughan family, connections of the mighty Herberts of nearby Rhaglan Castle, it escaped the fate of many medieval houses which were subsumed into elegant eighteenth-century confections and remains very much as it was in the early 1700s when it passed into a local farming family. Extensively restored by Cadw in the twentieth century, it is wonderful example of a high-status Welsh gentry home.
